The Audio awareness program

AES India section has prepared a special Power Point presentation. It comprises of oscillator tones, a special audio soundtrack, production tracks from the music recording session & many commercially released music tracks.

The program starts with explanation of the basic physics of audio such as wave theory, sound propagation, characteristics of sound- amplitude, pitch, timbre etc., supported with the appropriate track playback.

Then comes  “ the birth of a song “. In this part of the presentation the process of song recording in a professional recording studio is explained in detail, supported by playback of  the tracks recorded from a song session.

The third part deals with the commercial release formats of  audio software. Starting from 78 rpm, LP, EP, cassette, CD, DAT, Minidisc & finally DVD. All these are  shown to the students.
This part also deals with Cinema & TV sound formats and what to expect of them.

The last part is about the playback systems. PMPO, actual perceived power, listening levels on personal stereos and on big systems, noise pollution & hearing loss etc.

There is also an added/optional section dealing with the reverberation & echoes in enclosed environments.(public places-hospitals, railway stations, airports, lobbies of halls etc.)

In essence AES India wishes to cover as many children/students as possible in as many schools & colleges, making them aware about the technicalities of AUDIO.

This program is presented by members of AES India Section.

A CD player and an adequate sound playback system is essential for the presentation and also a black/white board as the case may be.
