Who can be a member?

Any audio enthusiast can become an associate member, wherein he does not have the right to vote. Any audio professional, who has been in the industry for more than 15 odd years, is entitled to become a full member, after his application form is scrutinized and counter-signed by three existing members. The fee presently is Rs. 2500/- per calendar year and this is a discounted fee structure offered by AES, New York, to help and promote us. Student Membership fee is Rs 1500/-

Benefits of Membership

 The Journal of the Audio Engineering Society:A ten issue per year subscription to the Journal is sent to all membership grades and is included in the annual dues.

 Discounted Admission: Registration fees for AES conventions and conferences, as well as pre-prints of papers read at these technical meetings are available to members at reduced rates. Member registration discounts at one convention can almost pay for one year's membership dues.

 Discounts on Special Publications: All society publications are available at discounted rates to the membership. This includes the Cumulative Index of AES Journal articles, the Anthology series of selected Journal papers, and the extensive catalog of technical standards on critical technologies in the audio industry.

 Advance Meeting Notice: Schedules of AES conventions and conferences are mailed to the entire membership. Meeting notices and newsletters for local section activities are sent by each section to members in their area.

 India Section Activities: Section meeting participation and technical seminars keeps members up-to-date with new developments and provides a valuable avenue for exchange of ideas and experiences with other professionals. This networking can serve to further career advancement. Moreover, such participation offers the dedicated participant the possibility of future involvement as an officer of the society
AES India also has some of the finest and the latest technical books on the Audio Sciences that are available to members. They can read these books at our library situated at Vile Parle (East).

Member Classification

A Member may be anyone active in audio engineering or acoustics who has an academic degree or the equivalent in scientific or professional experience in audio engineering and its allied arts and is familiar with the application of engineering principles and data in that field.

An Associate Member may be anyone who has an interest in audio engineering and in the society objectives, but who does not yet have the degree or the equivalent in professional experience required of a Member. Associate membership includes all the privileges except voting, holding office or chairmanships.

A Student Member may be anyone interested in audio who is enrolled in a recognized school, college or university. As with Associate Members, Student Members may not vote or serve on committees except in a local chapter.
